My baptism

November 10, 2024

'What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.'
Acts 22:16 NLT

Why get baptized?
well baptism is a very important step of obedience that shows others that we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. Even Jesus was baptized when he was on earth, and we do this to follow his example. when Christian's are baptized, they are submerged under water, for a brief moment, to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of water to identify with his resurrection. We believe that water baptism is a public declaration of 3 important things: identifying as a believer of Jesus Christ, beginning a changed life in Christ, & being a part of a new family.

My pastor explained baptism perfectly. He said...
baptism in Greek, means "Baptizo" which literally means "To immerse". When we put a cucumber into water, it's just a cucumber. but when we put a cucumber into a pot of boiling vinegar, it essentially becomes a pickle. So we are transformed in the same essence after being immersed into that water, in Jesus Christ's name.

On Sunday November 10th, 2024, I felt a whirlwind of emotions. I was anxious, nervous, and kept asking myself if I was ready. Deep down, I knew I was, but I had that lingering feeling that if I went ahead with it, I would fail Jesus in some way. That being baptized and failing meant that I failed Jesus by actually not being ready. I had so many questions in my head that I still can't really explain but I was also happy and excited for this new step on my spiritual journey. After a wonderful service, my pastor took my hand, we prayed, and then I arose from the water and was so emotional. the holy spirit was with me. I felt like Jesus himself was hugging me. everyone was cheering and clapping in celebration. my dear friend and sister in Christ, walked up to me and hugged me. I couldn't stop crying and smiling for a few moments. then it was over.

if you are ready to follow Christ and get baptized, I encourage you to talk to your Pastor. Send me a email or a message on social media if you'd like to talk more about baptism and what it means for you. I hope you enjoyed my story. I would love to hear yours!

I want to hear your baptism story!
